Follow Hymn Music Ministries, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that aspires to lift the human spirit through our music ministry. Follow Hymn was established and incorporated in April 2002. We are committed to promoting cultural enrichment, spiritual uplifting and community experience utilizing gospel, and spiritual and inspirational music as a means of multicultural awareness. We are further committed to use the power of music through song, movement and spoken word as a tool to bridge cultural gaps and provide greater understanding and awareness of all people. |

Since 2000 our Interfaith choir, founded by Doreen Murray has performed annually to raise funds for the building fund and community outreach programs of Zion Baptist Church of Lynn, MA. The choir participants gathered for three months, preparing for the fund raising event. After each annual performance, which took place in September of 2000 & 2001, the participants voiced their desire to meet more often and to sing together on a regular basis, as a community-based choir. After much thought, Follow Hymn Music Ministries, Inc. was born. Participants became “members”, and were asked to pay an annual dues, this helps cover the cost of music, non-donated printing, travel, musicians fees and other expenses, which where often covered out of pocket by Ms. Murray and Executive Director and Co-founder, Virginia Makkers. An advisory board was formed to help assist in organizational matters and to help develop fund raising strategies for our newly formed organization, so that we could operate on an on going basis; allowing us to practice regularly; perform as a choir to raise funds for our organization; provide concerts and other events for charitable organizations; putting our purpose into action.
