AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT 2007-08 SEASON

Follow Hymn Interfaith Choir is a North Shore-based community chorus.  The choir is one of the programs offered by Follow Hymn Music Ministries, Inc. We are an interfaith, multi–ethnic, multi-cultural performance organization.

We pride ourselves in the way we are able to promote diversity, in the visual sense, but more importantly being an example of utilizing the diverse artistic disciplines of our members to promote our mission using spiritual, gospel, varied inspirational music and dramatic presentation.

Follow Hymn Music Ministries, Inc. is under the leadership and direction of Virginia Peacock-Makkers and Doreen Murray.

Open Auditions will be held

Sat. July 28, 10AM - 1PM and Mon. July 30, 6PM - 9PM

These auditions/rehearsals are in preparation for our Season opening Concert – Nov.2nd & 3rd 2007

If you are an experienced singer, w/ sight-reading skills, (although not required, but helpful), and interested in exploring a range of spiritual/gospel/inspirational musical genres, then FHIC (Follow Hymn Interfaith Choir) is for you!

All adults welcome, (18 years and older)!   Fun, friendly, people. 

Repertoire includes spiritual, gospel, inspirational music sung in English, Hebrew, Spanish, and/or Swahili; spoken word, liturgical dance, dramatic presentation  

Rehearsal accompaniment is piano – Concerts are full band.

Rehearsals are Monday nights from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Lynn Arts Inc., 25 Exchange St. , Lynn , Ma (Central Sq., Lynn)

Interested singers must have choral experience, and commit to regular rehearsals. This is an excellent opportunity to offer one's musical gifts in a vitally important ministry to the community.

Is experience necessary? Do I have to read music? Do I need any special equipment?
No experience is needed. But we do desire a certain level of talent and also work toward fulfilling the needs of the Choir. The ability to read music is not mandatory. A small, portable tape recorder is essential.

What kinds of songs does the Choir sing?
The choir performs an extensive repertoire or music. Traditional, spiritual and contemporary gospel, top the list. We also perform inspirational and motivational music including, but not limited to songs sung in Spanish and Hebrew.

How often does the Choir rehearse? How often do you perform? Does the Choir take a break?
The choir rehearses regularly on Monday nights. Rehearsals are increased as needed in preparation for performances. The choir takes short breaks, (1-2 weeks off) following major performances and for several weeks in the summer, and the week before and after major holidays, i.e. Christmas/Hanukah, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day.

As a member, do I have any financial obligations to the Choir?
Each member contributes in the form of annual dues. See the membership page for detailed information.

Does the Choir travel? Who pays for travel?
The choir does travel to perform occasionally. Usually travel is local. The organization will usually reimburse for parking, tolls and/or gas.

What happens if I have a successful audition?
After a successful audition, you will be notified. It will then be your decision to be a part of Follow Hymn Music Ministries. If you choose to join, you be asked to pay your annual dues, within a month of your join date.
